Yoga – What is the meaning?

Yoga is derived from the Sanskrit word ‘yuj’, meaning to bind, to attach, and it also means ‘union’.

For me, I always see yoga as the the connection of the physical being to your divine ‘other’ being, the bringing together of the 2. The practice dates back more than 5000 years in ancient India and is a spiritual practice.

The term “Yoga” in the Western world often denotes a modern form of hatha yoga and yoga as exercise, consisting largely of the postures or asanas.

Yoga is always about the union of the spiritual, emotional, mental and physical aspects of the person.
